Breath of Fresh Air – Geek Vision

Geek Vision was born in a little town across The Channel in France called Paris. This is where two young chaps met at Art school but they weren’t any two ordinary chaps.

No, as they progressed through Art School their skills improved and they decided to start up a t-shirt brand using their Graphic Design and Photography Skills.

Their current t-shirt range is very raw (See below to nod your head in agreement) and their photography is comparable with the likes of Terry Richardson, David LaChapelle & Yonemara Yone Yasumasa.

You get your mits on these t-shirts here and you can also check out their blog here. Check out the pics below!

Toy Me now @ Topman Oxford Circus

Toy me is one of my favourite jewellery brands and found it quite hard to get my hands on them back in the day. The only place I could remember was on the Triads website. If you didn’t know, Toy me is an Über cool brand from Italy and has seen their master-pieces grace the necks of the Dim Mak’s very own Steve Aoki,  Uffie, Soul Wax & Bloc Party.

Apart from their close links to music, Toy me have taken everyday objects and converted them into so really unique pieces of mens jewellery. For example: a pair of scissors bent into a bracelet and a zipper on the end of a neck chain.

Mens jewellery is going to be very big this summer and this is mostly due to “The Rise of Plunging Neckline Tees”. A nice neck-piece will add an extra little something to the deep v-neck or a scoop neck tee. Toy me will definitely answer all your prayers and will be able to offer you something different from Joe bloggs’ oil slicked side parting and his worn out Lyle & Scott polo.

Anyway, lets get to the bottom line, Moses says “Go to Topman Oxford circus because Toy me have perched themselves very nicely on the first floor in the Accessories section!”. As I have said, You’ll find some really nice pieces there and they don’t cost you the earth too!

Go check out Toy me to fall further in love and check out some pics below!

Breath of Fresh Air vol 4. – Ambush POW! & Beeeeethoven Series

Ambush was a bit of an accidental discovery when i visited the Silly Thing store in Chai Wan. This Exclusive brand has been graced by the likes of Kanye West, Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, Verbal from the Teriyaki boys. Ambush has definitely made a impact on the International Fashion Scene.

I love the “Pow” ring which is now in it’s 3rd season and has a forthcoming collaboration with Silly Thing. There is also the awesome “Beeeeethoven” series and both the Pow and Beeeeethoven come a great range of bold colours. Anyway, just check out the pictures below and also their store or this one. Enjoy!

Breath of Fresh Air – Rochambeau Fall ‘09 Collection

Meaning the popular game Rock-Paper-Scissors in Egyptian, Rochambeau maybe fairly new to the clothing game but don’t let that fool you, their Spring ‘09 line (their first) has already had heads turning with their strong geist of art in their aesthetic. This can also be seen in their look books, their Spring ‘09 look book has already received accolades from the Shinmai competition in Japan.

Below you can check out their latest offering from their Fall ‘09 Collection which hit stores last week at OAK NYC, Elsworth Minneapolis & Platinum in Philly.

‘Fall and winter requires shielding and protection from the elements and utilizing materials such as tropical wool, cotton plaid, and hand brushed flannel, Rochambeau has created it’s own chic and sophisticated exoskeleton for the modern man.’ – Rochambeau

With that said you can definitely tell the guys over at Rochambeau have a bonding over shared love of design and, in particular, their similar vision for men’s fashion. Definitely one to watch out for!

Breath of Fresh Air – Michael Jackson Is Not Dead By Wrongwroks

Wearing this tee is one way to get looks in the street isn’t it?!? Don’t worry Wrongwroks are not a “One Trick Pony” NO WAY! For me, they are without one of the most underrated street wear brands out there. The Taiwanese outfit have been around for a while and I have had one eye on them since I purchased one of their earliest designs (Doradimon) a few years back.

Throughout their Collection you will see that they have taken inspiration from a lot of designers, Cute Taiwanese girls and cartoon characters like: Marc Jacobs, Takashi Murakami, Supreme, PLAY by Comme des Garcons Sponge Bob Square-pants, Doraemon and many more. As you can see, these designs do come with the Wrongwroks special touch and at a fraction of the price of their designer counterparts.

Available from their site and various other international retailers which can also be found on their site!

Breath of Fresh Air – Uniforms for the Dedicated

You may have seen Moses use the Breath of Fresh Air tagline in the recent post for Smudge the Bear, well we at Stylenerds liked it so much that were now adopting it for a new section of ours. Breath of Fresh Air will be targeting upcoming & emerging brands and also brands that may have already been established that we think should be on your radar.

With that said, let me introduce you to Uniforms of the Dedicated

Hailing from Norway the label serves as a platform for musicians, illustrators, designers, and more, who continuously are invited to contribute with their innovations. Together with the core group they become a natural part of an expanding network. At this point in the process, 12-15 people are in some way involved in music, fashion or arts. Four core members work full time and these are the people who were behind the shaping of the concept and starting up the company/collective.

There Fall/Winter ‘09 Collection ‘A Play of Nonsense’, comes from the ‘imaginary/nonsense literature of the 19-century and its front man Lewis Carroll – a true master of transforming everyday objects into a new and challenging meaning. Airborne guinea pigs and cube-like characters reflect the spirit of Uniforms for the Dedicated; classic wearable clothing that have fallen down the rabbit hole before climbing up in a new fashion.’

Check out the rest of the Fall/Winter ‘09 collection below, and if you want to get your hands on Uniforms for the Dedicated, you can head on over to Son of Stag (on Dray Walk which is off Brick Lane, opposite Big Chill Bar!!!) or 111Vox.com.

Smudge the Bear – A Breath of Fresh Air

Last weekend I was wandering the streets of Shoreditch with my usual swagger but suddenly I was stopped in my tracks by Smudge the Bear. Consisting of two London-based fresh faced lads Smudge the Bear also come with with fresh ideas!

Their approach is very different from all the other up and coming brands in all corners of the world, from the eye-catching photo-collage T shirt designs to the Pizza Box style bag that the T-shirt comes in once purchased.

Their stall is located opposite the Sunday Upmarket in the Brick lane area where you will also be able to see their folding machine and accordion style sofa. Their first batch is still available with the next batch of designs being released within the next month (Don’t worry we’ll let you know just before it hits their stall). Also visit their website.

Anyway, as “A picture is worth a thousand words” check out the pictures from their latest collection below…
