Topman Denim Room
The online store for the ubiquitous high street brand has taken denim a step further now by offering a interesting amalgamation of interactive video to show off how all their styles of denim will look when on. Although this sounds a little like the various thumbnails and enlargements you’ll find on many an online store, this demo/tool actually shows you them on a guy moving around when you want to view the sides, front or back.
So, whether your particular choice cut at the moment is skinny, stretch skinny, slim, straight, bootcut, flare, twister, worker or carrot (breathe), you can check them out in all their glory right here. The great thing is that if you don’t already know the styles, you can see how they look here first and buy them from wherever you like!

Decisions, Decisions – Roll ups or Cuffed Jeans?
Let’s make this clear from the beginning, that the roll ups we are talking about are nothing to do with smoking as we Stylenerds would never endorse smoking (would we guys?!). Obviously, we are talking about roll up jeans and they are now an ever-more common site when you roam the streets. Last year ,we followed the emergence of roll ups and now this trend has gone leaps and bounds so it’s time for a little update!
The Stylenerds are great Ambassadors of the Roll up movement because they are a great summer look. They also give a great Carrot fit silhouette, the jeans don’t bleed onto your fresh trainers and the jeans won’t cover up any of the great details you may have on your trainers.
The new Cuffed jeans are essentially jeans with elasticated bottoms to give the same sort of fit as a roll up. I like to refer to them as the lazy mans roll up but that’s not to say I don’t like them. It does the same job as roll ups but you need to shell out some extra money for them and they aren’t as versatile as your average pair of jeans for the sake of a 2 minute job.
Anyways, if you do choose to buy a cuffed pair of jeans I would recommend checking out Humor (Elefunk model) and Topman (Acid wash Denim jogger) for their selection. Humor also have a great range of carrot fit jeans and the detailing is mouthwatering (white rivets, tilted rear pockets… drool!)
My Beloved APC jeans – An Essential Buy for any Wardrobe
The French brand APC is very much the unsung hero of the denim world. Generally, when many people think of top quality denim, the following brands would be mentioned: Diesel, True Religion, Evisu, Seven, Earnest Sewn, Nudie, Levis, Lee, Wrangler, Acne and Cheap Monday.
APC jeans have always concentrated on the basics as opposed to just a clever design on the back pockets. This is what makes them versatile enough to go with any casual outfit that you can pull together and the quality of the denim will ensure your APC’s are in it for the long run!
The current range consists of 5 different styles and several washes. My favourite APC’s are the New Cure for the skinny jean look and the New Standard for a slightly more relaxed look to which go perfect with a pair of high-tops.
Two things to keep in mind is that, the jeans only come in one leg length (this is normal when you buy a pair of raw denim jeans) so alterations will probably be needed once you have bought them. The last thing is that when you buy a pair of raw denim jeans make sure that you allow some room for comfort around the waist because they have not been pre-washed and will shrink by about 2-3 inches after the first wash you give them.

These beauties are available from the web store and cost won’t cost the earth either (£100 approximately), which is not bad considering they will last you at least 3 years.
Pop Music, Pop Art, Pop Culture – Acne Pop Classics SS10
Think of Sweden and the first things which spring to mind are: Beautiful blonde women, IKEA, Sauna’s, Bjorn Borg (The Tennis Player and not the Underwear range) & beautiful blonde women.
Well, let’s add Acne into that list of all things good & Swedish. Acne was founded in 1997 by Jonny Johansson and 3 others. Surprisingly, their initial intention was not to become a fashion brand “We didn’t want to participate in fashion in the first place” Johansson continues to explain “We wanted to be on the outside but, of course, you end up in the heat of it eventually”.
Since then, Acne has become one of the most sought after denim brands around selling 300,000 pairs per year and is up there with the likes of: Seven, Earnest Sewn, True Religion, APC, PRPS to name a few…
Acne’s pop classics SS10 is a very casual and versatile collection indeed. There are key on trend pieces like the farmer style chequered shirt and the denim jacket so, if anything, the pictures below are a great guide on how to piece together a great outfit for Spring Summer 2010.

So Fresh, So Clean Vol. 2 – How to Wash your Denim Properly
It really irritates me when people don’t know how to wash their jeans properly. They spend a lot of money on a nice pair of jeans and end up treating it such a way that causes the denim to lose shape and feel like a pair of jogging pants. To stop the slaughter of denim in cities all across the globe, Moses has decided to write a little guide to washing your denim properly…
1) This is the first and most important tip to washing your jeans…DON’T WASH THEM unless you really have to ie: rubbing kebab meat all over your legs or some other non-descript mass spillage. FACT: I have worn many pairs of jeans for 18 months without washing them. If they smell of cigarettes or something more pungent, air them out for a day. If they still smell, wash them immediately because they probably are containing a new strain of the H1N1 virus.
2) OK, now you have come to a point where you have to wash them but you still want that rigidity and ruggedness when you first bought them. You have two options, you either take them to the dry cleaners or you can go to the beach! I recommend that you only dry clean once for the lifetime of the jeans. If you want to go to the beach to wash your jeans, take a dip in them for about 5 minutes, rub dry sand on your jeans and repeat this process about 3 times. When you’re done, just rinse in cold water (no salt) and let them dry in the sun. This seawater method is particularly good at keeping your denim very rigid.
3) Since we don’t all have the luxury of living near a beach and you had no option but to take the dry cleaning route, you will need to do the following for the second wash: Soak your jeans in cold water for about an hour with WOOLITE BLACK, once done, rinse and roll in a towel and then leave to dry.
Tip: It may sound obvious to some of you, but I am going to say it anyway: If you don’t want your jeans to bleed (fade), wash them inside out.
It might seem like a lot of extra effort to wash your jeans but if you think about it, you will only do this once or twice a year. That has been Moses’s Guide on How to Wash your Denim Properly, let me know how you all get along and if you have any other tips to bring to the table.

Breath of Fresh Air – Bleu de Paname
With only their first collection, they have turned heads and received a lot of press attention. They are currently stocked in many of the top boutiques/shops around the world, Dover Street Market (London), Kapok (Hong Kong) and Colette (Paris) to name a few…
I went to go and check out their latest collection at Dover Street Market and could quite clearly see what the fuss was about. The Jeans are made from a lovely 13oz denim, which in my opinion is a nice weight for everyday use as well as keeping that rigid denim feel that we all love! Denim shirts are flavour of the month at the moment and Bleu de Paname have one of the best designs out there at the moment. I also love the shape of the pocket flaps on the shirts from the rest of the collection.
I suppose what is really refreshing about Bleu de Paname is that their inspirations are somewhat unconventional. Across their collection, they have taken sources of inspiration from 21st century military, British prisons and the blue collar industry.
Stylenerds eagerly anticipate their second look book which is due to be released shortly. Below are some pictures from their first collection and also a sneak peak into the making of the 2nd look book. Check their website for your nearest stockist
