Gillette Loves The Stylenerds – The New “Fusion Power Gamer” [Update]
8 July 2009 – Update
After taking a good look at the contents of this snazzy new Mezzi briefcase, which included the new razor from the Gillette stable along with spare blades, a bottle each of Fusion HydraGel and Fusion HydraCool and a pack of Gillette disposable razors (Cool Plus 3), the mission is to pit the disposables (and high quality ones at that) against the new Gillette Fusion Power Gamer on each side of the face, for a week.
On first impression, it seems like a non-starter since even the original Mach 3 was far superior to any razor at the time – especially disposable razors. However, having used various razors including the Mach 3, the Fusion and several lines from other manufacturers including Wilkinson Sword; The Stylenerds are certainly up for the challenge.
The Gamer comes in 2 flavours – ‘Manual‘ and ‘Power‘, with ‘Power’ obviously referring to the battery powered ‘micropulses‘ that apparently reduce friction and provide a smoother shave. In addition, the Gamer now includes a microchip to help moderate these ‘micropulses’ for consistent power throughout the shave.
Read more about the razor over at the Gillette Fusion Gamer site and keep your eyes on this post for updates throughout the week.

Ok, I haven’t actually been to Stylenerds HQ yet to check this parcel out, but from the pictures I have been sent initially, it would appear that Gillette have sent us some kind of Top Secret mission and require us to document whatever-it-is-they-want-us-to-do.
Anyhow, we thought it was only fair to share this with our readers, so keep an eye on this post for progress…

It’s Officially Summertime, so Show off Your Torso with a Braun bodycruZer
The sun has been blazing this week in London, with temperatures reaching highs of 37 celcius, so there couldn’t be a better time to start grooming and show off that physique that’s hiding behind that bodyhair. The Stylenerds team have been provided a Braun bodycruZer by the nice guys over at Porter Novelli (NY) to try out. Read more after the jump.
Overview
According to statistics we have been provided, 57% of men would like to change their body grooming practices if they received a negative reaction from a sexual partner; personally, I’m surprised this percentage wasn’t higher.
The Braun bodycruZer is a 2-in-1 trimmer and shaver with each part capable of being used individually, or in Combination Mode to create less work by trimming medium-to-long hair growth followed by a wet shave with the supplied Fusion blade in just one stroke.
Review
Ergonomically, the device feels really comfortable in the hand and is appropriately styled, giving the bodycruZer a good form factor. It’s also not too large, as can be the case with some electric shavers so it’s perfect as an all-in-one device to take with you on your travels – this definitely seems to be the intention as you can use it on both your body and your face. Braun have even made the bodycruZer waterproof so it’s usable in the shower.
In use, the trimmer and the wet-shave blade work perfectly and as expected. The Fusion line of razors of Gillette as renown for the quality of shave they provide, and the trimmer works just as well on the thicker body hair, as it does on the facial hair, allowing for a groomed stubble look. It’s supplied with 3 attachable combs to allow trimming to different lengths, including a comb for more sensitive areas, if the standard trimmer setting is too close for comfort.
As a combination product – using the razor and trimmer in tandem – was a little less successful, and appears to better in theory than in practice. You are probably better off just using them each individually, which provides the result you need anyway; simply trim long hair with the trimmer, then wet shave for a clean look, if desired.
The battery, when fully charged is good for 50 minutes of wireless shaving – the unit is also supplied with a charging base for easy recharging when the battery runs out.
Cost
The retail price of the unit is suggest at $69.99 – $79.99 (roughly £40-50) and should be arriving at stores near you very soon.
Visit the Braun bodycruZer site for more information.

Moses likes… Dr. G – Man Care Vital Energising Eye Gel
Dr. G is developed by Dr. Gun-Yong Ahn, the founder of Gowoonsesang, the world’s 2nd largest medical skin care group. 20 years of his clinical expertise on skin restoration is behind the birth of Dr.G. It all started in a land far away called Korea in a medical school. Dr. Gun-Yong Ahn still had a facial burn from his childhood but during Medical School he treated his own scar whilst restoring skin of many patients. Gradually he gained a reputation for skin restoration. From then on he developed Dr.G by request of patient who wanted daily skin care after the dermatological treatment.
Anyways, lets talk about the actual product. The last eye cream I tried was pants so i decided to place my faith in a Sales Assistant whom guided me to Dr. G. I had my doubts at first as the price was fairly cheap ($28.40 US) and the gel was clear and watery…(reminded me of Biotherm). Those doubts quickly evaporated when i could feel and see the difference even after 12 hours of application. My skin around the eye felt so soft and supple, the dark circles around the eye were dramatically reduced after about 4 days of use given that I have a decent sleep!
Overall, this eye gel is no miracle by any means but it does perform a whole lot better than most of the “leaders” in Men’s skincare. The nearest competitor in terms of performance from my experience would be N.V. Perricone and will burn a considerably bigger hole in you wallet than Dr. G. I haven’t tried the other products available but I’m sure they’re better than your average and great value for money.
Availiable from Sasa. Also, check out the rest of the Dr. G skincare range!

The Ultimate in Skincare? – Creme de la Mer
Ok, this cream has – for years – been vaunted by skin-obsessed aficionados and celebrities over the globe. The thing is, it always seems to be talked about by women to other women, and just for once we, at Stylenerds, felt that perhaps men should indeed give the product a try, in order to witness some of its ‘miracle’ qualities. Let’s face it – if it can fix up the face of a man who has been maimed by severe burns from a chemical explosion (its inventor) then surely it can smooth out the face of an average joe?
